Walking Tour of Brentham

The St Albans U3A Architecture Group

Another informed and interested U3A group visited Brentham on July 21st and enjoyed a sultry but successful tour, led this time by Sue Elliott. The lively group of 19 particularly appreciated Brentham’s finer architectural features and its three distinct styles as they were all members of the St Albans U3A Architecture Group.  Once again, after an excellent buffet lunch laid on by the Brentham Club, they had the opportunity to see the Tower Room and learn about the Brentham Society’s efforts to conserve it for the Archive. They were impressed by the Club and its facilities and envied us such a local resource.

These walks are part of a series of fund raising events in aid of The Tower Restoration Project. A group from the London Appreciation Society, to be guided by Clive Evans, is expected in September. If you would be interested in a tour click here for more information.

Who would have thought that such an amazing estate could be found just a short distance from Hanger Lane gyratory? Our group was warmly welcomed by Rosanna and breakfast was waiting for us. Our guided tour around this unique estate included many architectural surprises! The enthusiasm of our guide and hosts was very apparent and I wish them success with their fund raising. We all had a thoroughly enjoying day at Brentham, and the included lunch was delicious. I would highly recommend this tour to you.
