Learn more about the Arts and Crafts Movement
There are quite a few websites dedicated to the Arts and Crafts movement. Whilst there is no longer an Arts and Crafts Museum in London, there are several key places to explore this movement, primarily the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum). Find out about William Morris the founder’s legacy and visit one of the best preserved Arts and Crafts interiors 7 Hammersmith Terrace, former home of Sir Emery Walker, who was an antiquarian and typographer, and a close friend of William Morris.
A good source of information about Victorian homes is the Victorian Society. Their ‘Care for Victorian Homes’ series of booklets offers advice on how to restore different aspects of Victorian homes, such as timber windows, decorative tiles and fireplaces. A good deal of the information is relevant for Brentham homes.
